Welcome to newrybasketball.co.uk – home of Newry Fliers.

Newry Fliers Basketball Club is a voluntary organisation which is run by a small number of coaches who, between them, have over 50 years of experience. Since 1985, Newry Fliers have gone from strength to strength establishing themselves as one of the top clubs in Northern Ireland. On the 30th anniversary of the club’s inception the Fliers made the move from its long term home at Newry Sports Centre to the Abbey Grammar School to avail of larger facilities, as the club continued to flourish and its members continued to grow.

In recent years, Newry Fliers have opened their doors to local schools in the district, liaising with school coaches to promote and further develop the sport. Consequently the club has seen its members double in the last ten years. Newry basketball club caters for boys and girls from the age of seven, up to and including our men’s team. The club has a wide range of teams who play in the Basketball Northern Ireland league. In recent years, the club has had a flurry of success, notably winning this year’s U18 Men's Cup.

This season, 2015-16, the Fliers will enter their largest number of teams ever into the league, including two girls teams- a first in ten years. This is testament to the hard work of the staff and dedication of the players as basketball continues to become one of the most popular sports in the small city of Newry
